Teaching and Learning in the Language Classroom is a source of information, ideas, and insights into teaching. It involves teachers in their own professional development by encouraging them to reflect on their practice, and aims to develop insights into issues, problems, and possibilities in ELT methodology. The book is divided into four parts: ‘A framework for teaching and learning’, ‘Teaching the language system’, ‘Developing language skills’, and ‘Planning for learning’. All of the chapters have an initial task which raises issues which lie at the heart of current concern. The text then explores and synthesizes insights from research studies, experience and reflection, and action research by teachers in their own classrooms. Each chapter is illustrated with examples from course materials and includes follow-up activities and recommended reading
